Welcome to Day 197...
So here we are. Smack dab in the middle of the winter doldrums. Cold weather, short days, winter blues.
It's simply hard to get fired up about anything.
But I have a book to finish, so I started researching ways to get and to keep me energized in this home stretch of writing.
Here's what I came up with...
Get Outside.
Feel the wind on your face, take a deep breath and move.
I bundled up and took the pups for a walk early this morning and could not believe how great I felt after a 20 minute walk - energized and ready to work.
Make A To-Do List
Part of the reason we get stuck is that we simply don't know where to begin. Get the list together and get moving.
Find the Carrot
I'm heading off on a family vacation in about 6 weeks and having my book done or at least off to the editor by then is a strong motivator. Why? Because the idea of being away and my book still being unfinished will distract me from really relaxing. In the back of my head
I know if the book is done, vacation will be that much sweeter.
Make Your "Shoulds", Your "Wants"
Change your mindset so that the things you should do are the things you want to do. How so? Well the mind is a funny thing. You need to start connecting the attainment of your goal with immensely favorable things...vacations, a new car, more control over your life.
Establish a Mantra
Like "Just One More" or "I Can and I Will" repeat these when you don't feel like sitting down to write or when you're ready to give up. Fire yourself up and do "Just One More" paragraph or 15 minute interval...
