Welcome to Day 341...
And some boring but useful hints when polishing your manuscript for publication...
So when writing, I use all sorts of venues...word doc...goggle docs...some notes in an email...and when that happens, the curly quotation marks I use can get lost when I copy and paste back into my word doc.
So to replace straight quotes with curly or smart quotes, simply do the following...
Check to see if you have the option turned on to replace straight quotes with smart quotes (File>Options>Proofing>AutoCorrect Options button>AutoFormat As You Type), then you can use the Find and Replace dialogue box. Just type " in both the Find and Replace With fields and Word will replace any straight quotes with smart quotes. You can use Find Next to replace them one at a time to make sure, or just click Replace All.
