Day 343...5 Tips for Beating Writers Block

Welcome to Day 343...

And 5 more tips for beating writer's block...

So what's the secret to writing success?

Write more.

That's because the more you write, the better writer you become, which can in turn lead to more books...more exposure...more sales.

You get the picture.

So if writing more means greater success, here's some tips to get you typing away...

1. Eat, Drink & Be Merry

Sometimes we hit a block because our brains are simply deprived of what they need to function well. So give your mind and body the fuel it needs to take you to the finish line. Healthy food choices, lots of water throughout the day and as far being merry? Well sometimes our creativity has stalled because our lives are filled with stress. To help get back in a more focused state, strive for balance between your family and work commitments and build in “me” time to explore your own hobbies and interest.  A happy writer means a productive writer

2. Move Along

Getting stuck on one chapter or scene? Instead of struggling, which can lead to your mood and confidence taking a dive, simply move along to another section of your book. Really struggling with the writing? Take a stab at writing your back cover blurb or planning your cover.

3.  Turn up the Music

Put on some of your favorite tunes. It elevates your mood, can rev up your energy level and get you in a great writing zone.

4. Walk Away

If you've read my blog before, you know this is one of my favorite tips to clear the mind and get the ideas going again. So go ahead and walk away, your brain will still be working to sort out your scene or dialogue and I guarantee you'll be running back to get the ideas down.

5. Marathon Write

Set a timer for 30 minutes and don't get up from the chair. Write as much as you can for 30 minutes without judgment or editing. At the end of the 30 minutes, take a break and then set up another 30 minute session. You'll be surprised and thrilled just how much writing you get done.
