Welcome to Day 268...
And the art of connecting with your readers.
The thing about books and movies is that readers and viewers become invested in what they read or watch.
Just look at what's happening on Twitter and Facebook. Fans are still reeling today after watching one of the key characters on Grey's Anatomy get killed off in last night's episode.
My whole goal when I'm writing my next books is a finished product that the reader can't put down while at the same time, also feels a little sad when the story ends.
You leave them wanting more. But writing a book takes months, so how do you keep that connection going in-between books?
It's simple. Think about ways to connect with your reader as they wait for your next release.
Share updates on Facebook, your website and through regular blog posting. Let them know where the story will take place, tease part of the storyline, share an excerpt, post pictures of book clubs...
And...think outside the box. I held an on-line contest for the cover picture for my next book - NEVER LET ME GO. It was fun to set up and the winning picture ended up being my favorite as well. You can see the winner here...
The point is, don't that connection for granted.
