Welcome Day 13...
Where I live, it's a perfect "10" outside today. Sunny, warm, soft breeze...
After a busy week, and a morning filled with errands, I headed outside to my favorite lounge chair to read and relax.
Sometimes I need to remind myself that downtime is good.
In fact Scientific America says the brain needs more downtime. Here's why...
"Downtime replenishes the brain’s stores of attention and motivation, encourages productivity and creativity, and is essential to both achieve our highest levels of performance and simply form stable memories in everyday life. A wandering mind unsticks us in time so that we can learn from the past and plan for the future. Moments of respite may even be necessary to keep one’s moral compass in working order and maintain a sense of self."
More motivation...higher productivity and creativity...
Bottomline?
Downtime can not only make you a better writer, but a better person.
Who am I to argue with Scientific American?
So even though I did squeeze in some writing in today on NEVER LET ME GO...(1108 words), I'm relishing my downtime. I hope you are too.
Today's Takeaway Lesson comes from author James Carroll...
"...There are times when we stop. We sit still...We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper..."
Here's to Being All In,
Maggie
